For those with IBS only! and doctors and nurses too!!?
ok i’m freaking out people. i don’t know if it is IBS or colon cancer or tumors or whatever.
i was wondering if you all could help me out by telling your symptoms, triggers, and so forth.
my ordeal began in January of 2010. one night i got intense diarrhea and vomiting. went to the hospital. i really cant remember if they gave me anything…i think they did…i was sleeping during my hospital visit. like 3 or 4 days later it began. my first bowel movement after i got better was accompanied by mucus. for the following days, my bowel movements had mucus…and a new thing started to happen. my feces started coming out flat, like ribbons, but not as flat.
then i started to get really gassy around 10 in the morning every day. i became constipated. most of my symptoms began at ten-ish.
i started to freak out….colon cancer? i don’t know.
IBS…..i don’t know.
there are days where it seems as if i have normal looking stool. normal shape. normal color.
other days my stool looks as if it was passed through some sort of play dough mold; almost flat but not really.
other days its really flat and long, like a carpenters pencil.
some days i get little flat tiny bits. (don’t laugh, i know its all funny. lol)
sometimes its kind of loos. as it it were about to become diarrhea but then the stool just come out almost like diarrhea…i guess you can call it semisolid.
other days i feel like i want to have a bowel movement, but hardly anything comes out.
it all alternates. i have found that fiber helps.
oh, and i get really really gassy some times.
i also get rectal pain. some times it is sudden, other times it starts out like a small dull quiver and it last a short while.
also, my rectum feels warm and sore at times. like heart burn, but in the rectum.
i also feel the sensation of wanting to pass stool but nothing comes out at times….some times i get the feeling as if stool is still there moments after passing stool.
i would really appreciate it if you all could help me out. i had a friend with an extremely similar experience and he was diagnosed with IBS. his trigger is coke or pepsi.
im 25 years old. not obese. relatively healthy diet. no known family history of cancer. work out about 2-3 days per week.
HELP.
where do you guys feel the symptoms?
does it hurt?
can your case compare to mine, or any other case you might have heard of?
just give me everything you know please.
I am 30 with the following : asthma, gout , IBS & high cholesterol with truncal obesity. Familial History.?
I take the following daily
Morning: two puffs of seroflo 250
Previously I used to take montek 10 at 7 pm daily.
at night now I take
Tonact EZ
Half Mirtaz 7.5
colospa retard
zyloric 100
folinal 5
occasional isabgol husks two to three spoons
riconia or becozyme c forte.
creon 1000.
what more ca i do to prevent later heart disease, food intake is sometimes uncontrolled. I am addiced to cokes including diet ones. I lift light dumbles for five minutes daily, occassionall walk for 20 mins. Cyle for 10 mins up & 10 mins down to my work. Love to eat a lot of chicken. Drink a lot of Real and tropicana Juices. So what may be the prognosis for me?
Lastly, is there anything I can add to my medication— I cannot take aspirin because my stomach then burns. I suffer from Reflux too.
first off don’t listen to the assholes above me! granted there are some things about your diet that you mention are “uncontrolled” but you realized that and that is the important thing.
further more i think you have a syndrome know as cushing’s. this is most likely due to the steroid use for your asthma, and possibly something to do with your harmone levels. the doctors that have you on these medications should at the very least order a 24 hr urine free cortisol (ufc) test. to make sure your cortisol out put is within normal ranges. if they haven’t go to these doctors and don’t leave the office until they do! this is serious! doctors think they can just throw medications at patients and then send them on their way. wrong! medications can have serious long term side effects that you maybe experiencing!
Doctors or Health Professionals Please Help! We cant find whats wrong with me!?
I am a 19 year old female, and my problems started with a kidney stone at 17. Since then, I’ve had 3 kidney stones, diagnosed with renal colic since I have flank pain about twice to three times a week. In addition, I switched my birth control from Yasmin to Yas, and this has led to an increase in hematuria, or at least visible blood in my urine. I also have a history of IBS and high cholestrol. My diet is not great, and I produce about 1 liter of urine per day. I have been to several gastrointestinal drs, nephrologists, urologists, OBGYNs, etc, and have ran several scans and tests but they cannot put their finger on it. I have constant pain in the flank and stomach, and the constant bleeding really worries me. Please, if anyone has any idea what could possibly be wrong with me please help! Thanks in advance.
Could I be making my cat sick?
Okay so I’ve spent about $2000 on my cat in the last week getting vet treatment for acute pancreatitis and irritable bowel syndrome. They weren’t sure at first what it was but that is what they think it is now.
They know all of my cats history and diet and don’t know what may have caused it but I’m afraid that the food I feed him has caused it.
He’s fed vegan pet food which has passed all feed trials and nutritional analysis but I read about how pancreatitis and IBS can be caused by high carb intake in cats and as it’s a vegan pet food it’s naturally high carb.
Thoughts?
The vet doesn’t think they’re linked but I’m not sure how much info a vet would know on diet/nutrition.
Yeah there is taurine; l-carnitine and all that stuff added in.
He’s beefed on this food for about 12 months now as well.
It’s just got me thinking that’s all…
That is an interesting question. I’m a vegetarian myself but won’t consider the thought for my cats since cats are carnivores. Cats on high grain diets are more prone to things like bladder crystals and urinary tract infections. Some cats do not respond well to grains and will have vomiting or diarrhea. Also note that taurine, an essential amino acid, is only found in meat. It would need to be added to the food or your cat will likely have liver/heart/vision problems. I assume if you read the ingredients/guaranteed analysis you’ll find it there but good thing to double check.
Other than that, there’s really no long term research on the effect of a vegan diet on a carnivore. What worries me most is the pet food trials last a number of weeks, not years, like they should. I could live for weeks on McDonalds, but that doesn’t mean it’s healthy for me, you know? At the end of the day I don’t think you’ll find strong evidence either way. It’s a good thing to consider and I highly recommend doing your own research. That way you will either end up feeling very comfortable with your food choice, or you will decide to switch it, but you can be confident in your choice whichever way you go. Don’t beat yourself up. Whether or not the diet could have caused the issues, you do what you think is best for your pet and no one can fault you for that.
Could This be IBS??? Or Something Else?
This past week i have been having problems with my stomach almost everyday. I have about 1-2 regular bowel movements a day, so that is not a problem, but i constantly feel gassy-type pains in my stomach. A few times they got so bad that i needed to lay down. Ive also been feeling more bloated than usual and sometimes i get this feeling as if i need to poop but i cant. But my bowel movements are still normal. I have not changed my diet and my period is not due for a couple of weeks, but my family does have a history of IBS and ive been stressed lately. Should i be concerned? What could be wrong with me?
Not gross at all! Problems in (ahem..) this “area” shouldn’t be taboo. heh.
I went through something very similar a couple weeks ago. I couldn’t pinpoint anything unusual I had eaten, but it was slightly miserable. It *did* go away, but not before resulting in pretty bad pains. What I found on Web MD indicated that it was just some sort of intestinal blockage. It just resulted in gas in the end, so I’m hoping this is what’s going on with you too. It lasted for about 48 hours, but my system was a little out of whack for a couple more days.
The fact that you’re pooping normally is good, but if you’re having horrible pains, I’d try to go to an urgent care. You never know when it could be something like your appendix. Just watch pains in your sides, and I use Web MD for symptom checks.
